Allman Brothers drummer Butch Trucks joined Particle during an impromptu percussion jam Saturday night at the Berkshire Mountain Music Festival. The band was midway through its late night set in the Upper Lodge when the power went out during the song Triple Threat [the outage was due to a power surge and was not related to the recent blackout in the Northeast]. All four band members immediately began playing drums and percussion in the darkness, while Trucks literally snuck into the action, unnoticed by nearly everyone in attendance. Meanwhile, Particle manager Jonathan Shank banged a gong while hundreds of fans pounded rhythmically on metal lockers in the back of the room. The drum jam lasted more than thirty minutes and the power did not return during the set (it did come back later in the night).
Particle plays tomorrow at Northern Lights in Clifton Park, NY. For more dates, visit www.particlepeople.com.
