Mike Gordon and Warren Haynes will appear at two screenings for the Rising Low film in May. The movie, which was directed by Gordon, documents the making of Gov’t Mule’s Deep End albums and also serves as a tribute to Allen Woody. The screenings will take place May 12 at Higher Ground in Winooski, VT and May 20 at the Somerville Theater in Somerville, MA. Both Gordon and Haynes will participate in a Q & A session following each screening.
In other news, Gordon will perform a pair of shows with guitarist Doug Perkins (Smoking Grass) and mandolin player Jamie Masefield (Jazz Mandolin Project). The trio, dubbed Grappa Boom, plays originals as well as jazz and bluegrass standards. The performances are slated for 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on May 31 at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA.
