The Dead has announced the second leg of its Summer Getaway Tour, which runs July 29 through August 10 and will feature a set by Bob Dylan each night as well as a performance by Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. The itinerary includes dates in Florida, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio and New York. The July 29 show as well as the August 9 and 10 concerts are still yet to be announced.
The Grateful Dead and Dylan last toured together in 1987, when the Dead served as Dylans backing band in addition to headlining each show. The collaborative performances are showcased on the 1989 album, Dylan And The Dead. (Rehearsal tapes from the tour widely circulate among fans). Dylan is expected to sit in with The Dead as well.
