Kyle Gass (aka KG) joined Vida Blue last night at the Vic Theatre in Chicago, as the trio kicked off its mini-tour. Vida Blue features keyboardist Page McConnell (Phish), bassist Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers, ARU) and drummer Russell Batiste (Funky Meters). Gass (Tenacious D) played acoustic guitar on a version of Phishs Lawn Boy.
McConnell appears on Tenacious Ds 2001 self-titled album, along with other guests such as Dave Grohl, Warren Fitzgerald (the Vandals) and Steve McDonald (Redd Kross).
Gass side project, Trainwreck, opened last nights show and will also appear at the remaining four dates of the run, which continues tonight at Promowest Pavilion in Columbus, OH. For more information, visit www.vidablue.net.
