Jiggle guitarist Gary Backstrom will perform with a new side project next Friday, January 24 at The Attic in Newton, MA. The trio also includes drummer Greg DeGuglielmo (Max Creek, Slipknot!) and bassist Pete Dennesen. Each of us brings a different sort of thing to the table, says Backstrom. Pete has the sort of groove oriented, Medeski-type of feel. Greg brings everything from country to jazz on the kit and Im just excited to bring in new songs. Ive been writing in a style that I havent really done before. Ill be playing a lot more slide and mixing it up with some acoustic. Some of the show will be acoustic guitar, upright bass and brushes and other times it will be fully electric. It has a nice range of styles. Its sort of a work in progress.
The group is still searching for a name and Gary welcomes suggestions (We may even pass around a hat at the gig and let people vote.) Others can chime in at www.jigglethehandle.com. Showtime is 9 p.m.
