Phish bassist Mike Gordon and Carl ‘Gears’ Gerhard joined The Codetalkers with Col. Bruce Hampton Friday at the Best Western Ballroom in Hampton, VA. Gordon played guitar and Gerhard added trumpet for a portion of the show including When the World Comes Tumbling Down and Looking Down from Outer Space. Gordon, who arrived wearing an old man mask, performed with Phish earlier in the evening at Hampton Coliseum.
Mike and Hampton (the man, not the town) have an extensive history together dating back to the early nineties. Most recently, Col. Bruce starred in Gordons bizarre film, Outside Out, and will appear on the forthcoming soundtrack, Inside In, recorded in October 2002 and due out later this year. Gerhard has jammed with Phish on numerous occasions since the late eighties and toured with the band as a member of the Giant Country Horns in the summer of 1991.
The Codetalkers play Thursday at Crossroads Cafn Huntsville, AL. For more dates, visit www.thecodetalkers.com.
