Superfly Presents has confirmed that the Bonnaroo Music Festival, which was held June 21 – 23 in Manchester, TN, will return in 2003. Were going to have Bonnaroo again next year, says Jonathan Mayers, partner at Superfly and Bonnaroo. Everyone had such an amazing time, from the audience to the artists to the towns people. The local officials want us back. They thought that the audience was great. Until you really have 75,000 people come, theres no way to know how a town is going to react, but they were amazing. They really went with the flow and embraced the audience. It had a great impact on the community. I think that theres a good shot that well be back at that location. We hope to have something confirmed shortly. Either way, there will be a Bonnaroo event next year.
A Bonnaroo DVD and double-CD will be release on Sanctuary Records this fall. Performances from all four stages were recorded on multi-track tape and specific tracks are currently being discussed with the various artists. There is a possibility that there will also be a theatrical release of the documentary, which was shot in 16 × 9 (widescreen) format. More details will be announced as they become available.
