The Disco Biscuits will return to New York’s Wetlands Preserve on Saturday September 1. The group’s last New York City headlining gig took place at Roseland Ballroom but the band members have long professed their support of the club. Drummer Sam Altman notes, ‘We played so many shows there, it’s ridiculous. So many bands in our genre came out of Wetlands. It’s sad, the end of an era….Wetlands was a club where you could bring 50 people and they’d still have you come back the next week and let you play to 50 people again, if they had faith in your sound, if they thought you were a good band. Another club, you draw 50 people and the promoter is going to be pissed. But Wetlands was willing to give bands a shot.’
The Disco Biscuits will host Bisco Knights at the Big Kahuna Ampitheatre on August 25 and 26. The group’s full fall itinerary appears at www.discobiscuits.com.
