My Morning Jacket’s five night run at Terminal 5, reached its penultimate show last night in New York City. As with the previous evenings, the group ran through one of its studio albums, in this case 2005’s Z. Following a spirited take on that release, the band returned for an extensive cover-laden encore. MMJ kicked things off with its own “Chills,” which appears as a bonus track on the vinyl version of Z. From here the group covered Shel Silverstein’s “Lullabys, Legends And Lies” during an 8 song sequence in which the group also interpreted music by Funkadelic (“Hit It And Quit It”), The Who (“A Quick One While He’s Away”), Prince (“I Could Never Take The Pace Of Your Man”) and George Michael (“Careless Whisper”). MMJ will wrap up the series at Terminal 5 tonight.
