Chris Castle is a self-described “folk/Americana singer-songwriter from the cornfields of Ohio.” On his official Facebook page, he lists such diverse influences as “Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, the Band, Bob Marley, Jackson Browne and Elliott Smith” as his influences. Castle will have a chance to collaborate with some of those heroes on his new album, which he is currently recording at Levon Helm’s Woodstock-area studio. The list of guests slated to appear on the project includes Band organist Garth Hudson and his wife Maud, Ramones co-founder Tommy Ramone, blues/rock heir Gabriel Butterfield and the Womack Family Band, among others. Though Ramone might seem like an odd man out in that group, the onetime Ramones drummer almost exclusively plays bluegrass and roots music these days. More information on the project is available here.
