Veteran roots/Americana band Marley’s Ghost is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a new album, entitled Jubilee, out June 5 on Sage Arts. Recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium and produced by Cowboy Jack Clement, the new album includes guest spots from such luminaries as Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Old Crow Medicine Show, Marty Stuart, and Larry Campbell, among others. The band emphasizes that the guests are not merely features, but full-on collaborations between the band and their friends. The tunes performed on the album cover a wide variety of classic American songwriters including Kris Kristofferson (“This Old Road”), Levon Helm (“Growin’ Trade”), Bobby and Shirley Womack (“It’s All Over Now”), Katy Moffatt and Tom Russell (“Hank and Audrey”), John Prine (“Unwed Fathers”), Butch Hancock (“If You Were a Bluebird”) and Paul Siebel (the closing “She Made Me Lose My Blues”), alongside a half-dozen original compositions.
