Leftover Salmon’s Vince Herman will team up with Sam Grisman for a “Northeastern Fun Run” this winter. The duo’s acoustic tour will take place over four nights, beginning on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at New York’s Sony Hall, where they will blend thoughtful covers from the repertoires of [Sam’s dad], David “Dawg” Grisman, Jerry Garcia, John Kahn, John Hartford more bluegrass greats.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve been encountering the great Vince Herman / @vinceherman.music out in the wild with @leftoversalmonmusic,” Sam wrote on social media, accompanying the tour announcement. Acknowledging his early encounters with the guitarist, Sam continued, “I grew up going to festivals with my pop @daviddawggrisman, and we would always have a great time playing music and spending time with Vinny anytime we crossed paths.”
“He’s always been someone who I’ve looked up to as a positive force in our music scene and like me, he’s always game for some good tunes. Vince and I are looking forward to pairing up and picking and puffing our way through some of our favorite songs for all of you fine North-Easterners for these special intimate DUO shows,” the bassist concluded.
After an evening in the Big Apple, the combo will take their talents to Troy, N.Y., on Thursday, January 23, for an evening of entertainment at Troy Music Hall. They will follow up on Friday night, appearing on Boston’s City Winery stage before the arrival of their final show, slated for Saturday, January 25, at The Waldo Theatre in Waldoboro, Maine.
The newly announced Herman/Grisman tour will arrive after Leftover Salmon ring in the New Year over two nights, December 30 and 31, at Revolution Hall in Portland, Ore. Meanwhile, Sam will make his Ryman Auditorium debut on January 9–the night is billed as Peter Rowan & Sam Grisman Project Playing the Music of Old & in The Way and will feature special guests Sam Bush and Tim O’Brien. Sam Grisman Project will feature Chris J English, Dominick Leslie, Alex Hargreaves, Nat Smith, Logan Ledger and Max Flansburg. Tickets remain on sale.
