Joe Russo’s Almost Dead continued their run of shows at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre last night. For the second show in a row, the group dotted their setlist with cover debuts.
During JRAD’s second set, the band introduced a take on ZZ Top’s classic “La Grange.” The new song addition made sense: In December, Russo performed a set of music with ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons at Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam. Then, during their encore, JRAD also ran through the classic rave up “Gloria” for the first time.
Earlier in the day, JRAD guitarists Tom Hamilton and Scott Metzger both sat in with Summerfeet at the Cap’s Garcia’s during a Rock and Roll Playhouse family show. The afternoon performance celebrated the music of Tom Petty, and Metzger joined in on “Breakdown” and Hamilton appeared on “Runnin’ Down the Dream.”
JRAD’s run will close this evening.
