Nick Mason has added yet another jab to Pink Floyd’s long-running feud between its members.
During an interview with The Coda Collection, Mason was asked to comment a Waters’ statement lamenting how he was bullied by his bandmates. (“They were always trying to drag me down,” Waters said on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast. “They were trying to knock me off of whatever perch I was on.”)
Upon hearing the quote, Mason commented, “I’m slightly flabbergasted by [that quote]. I think that’s a slightly over emotional way of putting that there was some sort of division in the band… But, I don’t think they were mean to him, particularly. It’s hard to imagine being mean to Roger!”
He then chuckles, “…Stalin was bullied.”
Interestingly, Mason and Waters seemed to squash their beef as recently as 2019, when Waters made a surprise appearance at the Beacon Theatre to sit in with Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets band.
Before that, the two former bandmates last shared the stage on May 12, 2011, during a Waters performance at London’s 02 Arena. (David Gilmour also participated in that performance.)
However, as recently as 2020, Waters dispelled the idea of a full Pink Floyd reunion, saying, “[A reunion] would be fucking awful. Obviously, if you’re a fan of those days of Pink Floyd, well, then you have a different point of view. I had to live through it. That was my life. And I know in the wake of it, I’ve been cast as something of a villain by whoever, whatever. So be it. I can live with that. But would I trade my liberty for those chains? No fucking way.”

October 9, 2021 at 7:37 pmWhoever wrote this headline knows nothing about Wtaers/Mason. They have remained friends through all the bs and are jolly friends to this day. Mason was clearly poking a little fun. This was not fanning any rift. Waters and Gilmour/Wright filled those roles. Fake news belongs on CNN and MSDNC, not jambands.com.

October 9, 2021 at 11:00 amIt’s Roger’s right as a free man to hate blacks and Jews. I don’t like his bigotry & antisemitism and refuse to see his shows because of it, although he stinks without the band anyway.

October 8, 2021 at 3:37 pmDear God –
Did you happen to know that the word slavery would end up meaning the ownership of one person over another? Because your allowance of rules regulating for it, I don’t think we have to listen to you. Besides, your rules on boiling a goat in it’s mother’s milk are another giveaway to your ineptitude. But hey, thanks for checking in.

October 8, 2021 at 10:42 pmIt literally means my mother nurturing my enemies with slander so that corruption coagulates like a cyst on the face of America as other F. B. I. agents rebel and refuse to investigate high level sexual predators like Judge Kavanah and Doctor Nasser.
It is no suprise that Roger Waters, who recruited my mother, was referred to as “Stalin” in the context of who was the bully within the band which is what the article is about. You know? Pink Floyd and not your whiney diatribe “Dear God.”
