A group of musicians have come together to create a remote cover of “Georgia On My Mind” as part of the Lift Every Vote campaign. The campaign promotes voter participation in tomorrow’s Georgia Senate run-off election.

Saxophonists Chris Potter and Tivon Pennicott, vocalists Avery*Sunshine, Sarah Elizabeth Charles, Candice Hoyes, Joanna Wallfisch and Vuyo Sotashe, pianist Kenny Banks Jr., bassist Russell Hall and drummer Terreon Gully collaborated on the projected. They were led by musical director, producer, arranger and bass clarinetist Oran Etkin.

“We pieced this together from locations across the globe in an incredibly short space of time and came up with a beautiful, cohesive piece with a powerful message,” said Etkin (via press release). “I was in Brazil, others in the UK, LA, NYC, Miami, as well a number in Georgia itself. Everyone took time out from their holidays and their families to do this – with an enthusiasm and energy which i think speaks to the passion and the commitment of our community to contributing to the fabric of society: art is about so much more than performance, and i think we can really feel that in this piece.”
