The Slip has announced that it will be taking a break from touring beginning in October. The trio plans to finish work on a studio album recorded last winter at Trey Anastasios barn in Vermont. A release date has not yet been set. The bands remaining dates include S.L.A.C. Fest, a one-day event that will take place September 15 in Conventry, RI. The line-up includes The Slip, The John Scofield Band, Gruvis Malt, UM (featuring Hal Crook, Bob Gullotti, Dave Zinno), Paul Geremia and Leslie Helpert. The Slip plans to return to the road in early 2002, but has not ruled out the possibility of playing a New Years Eve show.
The band opens for John Scofield tomorrow at Irving Plaza in New York City. For a complete list of fall dates and to read a statement from the band regarding the break, visit www.theslip.com.
