Drummer Billy Martin (Medeski, Martin & Wood) has announced plans for The Turntable Sessions, which open tomorrow at the Bowery Poetry Club in New York City. The sessions will take place every Wednesday from July 24 August and will feature Martin along with a rotating line-up of DJs, instrumentalists and vocalists. Wednesday’s line-up will include Leroy Jenkins, Min Xiao Fen, pipa and DJ Mutamassik. ‘It should be fun collaborating in this way, says Martin. The Turntable Sessions at The Bowery Poetry Club will allow some of my favorite musical artists to come together to compose, improvise, and basically see what happens in an environment that has no boundaries.’
