A Grateful Dead concert film will make its debut tomorrow at Makor in New York City. The movie, titled Sunshine Daydream, was shot by John Norris during the Deads performance on August 27, 1972 at Old Renaissance Faire Ground in Veneta, OR. The show was a benefit for Ken Keseys brothers creamery, located in Springfield, OR. It was also the last known acid test, thrown by Kesey and the Merry Pranksters and attended by more than 20,000 fans. The film includes a complete 30-minute Dark Star, which opened the second set.
The movie will be screened Saturday night at 9:30 and 11:30, Sunday at 4:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. (followed by a performance by the Zen Tricksters), and Monday and Tuesday night at 7:30 and 9:30. Look for the film to be released on DVD later this fall.
For tickets, call Makor at 212-601-1000.
