Dark Star Orchestra have set its sights on the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Calif., as the official setting for its ensuing benefit for the Rex Foundation, titled The Music Never Stops, A Tribute to Bob Weir. The two-night event is slated for July 31 and August 1 and builds on the success of 2024’s concert/charity concept debut.

On top of Dark Star Orchestra’s nightly commitment to delivering music that honors the songbook and spirit of the Grateful Dead’s beloved rhythm guitarist, the late Bobby Weir, they have also expanded each evening’s musical offerings to include additional guests like Melvin Seals & JGB, featuring Jazz Mafia Horns on Friday, July 31, and Peter Rowan with Sam Grisman Project playing the music of Old & In the Way on Saturday, August 1.

“Bringing together Bobby’s sense of community, which emanates from his music and history of giving back, is the best way I can think of to celebrate all that he and the Rex Foundation have accomplished. Our goal is to continue his vision well into the future,” Executive Director of the Rex Foundation, Cameron Sear, remarks on the significance of the occasion.

The Rex Foundation was founded by the Grateful Dead in 1983 to support initiatives that cultivate a healthy environment and fuel the arts. The foundation also safeguards the individual and collective rights of Indigenous peoples by strengthening the community through engagement and education initiatives. Learn more and donate
