After reuniting for a handful for dates earlier this fall, The New Riders of the Purple Sage have announced a more extensive December outing. Original NRPS guitarist David Nelson and pedal steel player Buddy Cage will team with multi-instrumentalist Michael Falzarano, drummer Johnny Markowski bassist and Ronnie Penque for a nine-date tour, kicking off December 7 at Cleveland, OH’s Wilberts. From there, The New Riders will blaze through Morgantown, WV, Harrisonburg, Norfolk, Richmond, VA, Baltimore and Falls Church, VA before concluding with a two night stand at Teaneck, NJ’s Mexicali Blues on December 16 and 17. While group co-founder John Dawson’s health issues prevent him from joining his bandmates on tour, he has reportedly given Nelson and Cage his blessing to revive the New Riders moniker.
