The initial reports from the second annual Jam in the Dam have begun to filter back to the States. Last night, during Umphreys McGees performance at Amsterdams Old Hall, paired performers Joe Russo and Marco Benevento emerged for a Utopian Fir jam leading out of the improvisational segment Jimmy Stewart. Russo later returned sans Benevento, attempting to play Jake Cinningers guitar on a set-closing version of Morning Song (apparently Sir. Russo is no more than a pauper when it comes to mastering Cinningers strings). According to reports, the Duo also proved to be social, inviting Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey’s Brian Haas onstage for a suprise apperance during its set (JJFO will play in Germany tomorrow). Jam in the Dam will continue today with performances by Umphreys McGee, the Disco Biscuits, the Duo and Sound Tribe Sector 9.
