Tonight Sam Holts Outformation will kick off a southern tour at Austins Antone’s. Formed over a year ago by the Widespread Panic guitar technician, Outformation has increased its visibility over the past few months. After the 2002 passing of Michael Houser, Holt experienced a moment of clarity. ‘There were many times he [Houser] told me, ‘I want you to go do your own thing. You need to quit teching and go play music, Holt says. ‘And [after he died] that really hit home for me.’ It was Houser’s death that served as the catalyst for Holt to dedicate himself to Outformation. This summer Holt performed regularly with Widespread Panic and he will spend the next month performing throughout the south. As of press time, Outformations tour is scheduled to conclude December 9 at New Orleans Maple Leaf.
