Like many, Pete Townshend spent the weekend in Austin attending the annual SXSW Music Conference. The Who guitarist delivered the conferences keynote speech on Wednesday and, throughout the weekend, sampled many of the festivals most buzzed about bands. First, on Thursday, Townshend and his girlfriend, singer/songwriter Rachel Fuller, hosted the latest installment in their Attic Jam concert series at Austins La Zona Rosa. A number of guests joined the pair onstage throughout their performance, including Martha Wainwright, Willy Mason, Alexi Murdoch and Joe Purdy, who jammed with Townshend on his 1980s hit Let My Love Open The Door. The guitarist also used his Attic Jam as a forum to debut I Can’t Reach You from the 1967 album The Who Sell Out. Then, on Friday, Townshend stopped by the Spin party to join current Brit-pop sensations the Fratellis on The Seeker. The guitarist blogs about the weekend, and the Whos cancelled performances, here.
