On August 21 Galactic will issue its first studio album since 2003, From the Corner to the Block, which finds the veteran New Orleans band jamming with a number of guests from the hip-hop world. Notable guest appearances include star MCs like The Coup’s Boots Riley, Lyrics Born, Digable Planets’ Ladybug Mecca, Juvenile, Jurassic 5’s Chali 2na, Mr. Lif and Blackalicious Gift of Gab. The new album will also feature unique collaborative efforts with a handful of New Orleans heroes, such as Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Soul Rebels Brass Band and Trombone Shorty. In preparation for the albums release, Galactic has posted a pair of songs from the project, From the Corner to the Block and Think Back, both at www.galacticfunk.com and www.myspace.com/galactic. The discs title-track features Juvenile and Soul Rebels Brass Band, while Think Back boasts an appearances from J5s Chali 2na. Meanwhile, Galactic will appear at Whitefish, MTs Central Station this evening.
