MOFRO’s initial two studio efforts, Blackwater and Lochloosa which came out on the well-intentioned but ill-fated Fog City records, have slipped out of print. However, as of today, the two discs will now be readily available once again, as Alligator Records is re-releasing the band’s first two efforts. Earlier this year Alligator issued Country Ghetto the latest offeering from the band which has come to rename itself JJ Grey & MOFRO.
JJ Grey & MOFRO, which is about to embark on the west coast leg of its fall tour, also has announced that it will spend New Year’s Eve in its home state of Florida. The group will perform at Freebird Live in Jacksonville from December 28-31, with different openers each night. Support acts will be Nervous Turkey (Dec. 28), Hobex (Dec. 29), The Legendary JC’s (Dec. 30) and Inca Maya (Dec. 31). Tomorrow, the group will resume its fall tour with a gig at the Beta Bar in Tallahassee.
