The second Best of the Jammys DVD spans the past four installments of the event. In addition to performances from the previous three Jammys at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden (now the WaMu Theater At Madison Square Garden), Best of the Jammys Vol. 2 also draws together music from the 2002 show at Roseland Ballroom. The 2002 Jammys is represented by Govt Mule with Gregg Allman, Trey Anastasio and Derek Trucks on ‘Soulshine,’ as well as Andy Hess, Stanton Moore, John Scofield and Skerik covering ‘My Babe,’ Blind Boys of Alabama with Robert Randolph and the Family Band performing ‘Spirit in the Dark’ and Particle joining Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson of The B-52s for ‘Love Shack.’
Collaborations from the last Jammys include Rhythm Devils featuring Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann with Mike Gordon, Angque Kidjo, Steve Kimock, Baaba Maal, Charlie Musslewhite, The Mutaytor, Stephen Perkins moving from a jam into ‘Jingo,’ Blues Traveler, Bettye LaVette and DJ Logic delivering ‘Joy,’ the Steve Kimock Band (Kimock, Reed Mathis, Willy Waldman and Stephen Perkins) with Joe Satriani and Grace Potter covering ‘Cortez the Killer’ and Little Feat with B Fleck, Steve Kimock, Ky-mani Marley, Stephen Marley, Charlie Musslewhite, and Rhythm Devils offering a nod to Bob Marley with some ‘Jammin’.’ The 2005 Jammys are represented by the Benevento-Russo Duo with Les Claypool, Mike Gordon and Gabby Lala on ‘Beltless Buckler.’
