The Black Crowes first new studio album in seven years is now set for a March 4 release. Warpaint collects ten new original songs written by Chris and Rich Robinson along with a version of Gods Got It by the Reverend Charlie Jackson. Of equal significance is the fact that North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson appears throughout the album and will now join the group , officially replacing Paul Stacey (who produced Warpaint). Also on board is keyboardist Adam MacDougall, to completes the sextet along with drummer Steve Gorman and bassist Sven Pipien. The Crowes will begin a tour in support of the new disc on its release date of March 4, during which the band will perform Warpaint in its entirety, followed by additional material from the band’s catalog. Given the Crowes’ somewhat limited tour itinerary it does not appear that Dickinson’s participation in the band will limit the efforts of the North Mississippi Allstars.
