Gordon Stone is pushing his music into a new direction with a new project that draws in a number of West African drummers. Stone is spending the next few days recording with these musicians as well as Eric Lawrence (Levon Helm Band) and his own core trio. The musicians are working up new original material at the sessions, which are taking place at The Barn [Trey Anastasios longtime Vermont recording studio]. Over the coming months Stone is focusing his live gigs in the Green Mountain State where it is possible that this collective may manifest itself in some form. Photos and videos of the current sessions are expected to appear on the Gordon Stone Band site over the coming days.
