We’ll close out today’s news the same way we started it, with a look at events down in New Orleans. The Jazz and Heritage Festival opened today for the first of its two weekends at the Fair Grounds. With so many musicians in town, much of the action also takes place at night after the festival proper. One such happening is a performance by the Southern Rack Pack, which will take place at the Blue Nile on Saturday night with Robert Walter, Stanton Moore, Eddie Roberts, Jonathan Batiste, Topaz and Will Bernard. In fact, it appears that Bernard will encamp at the Blue Nile over the weekend, as tonight he will appear with Dr. Lonnie Smith, Skerik, Simon Lott and Donald Harrison. Then on Sunday evening, he’ll rejoin Smith, Harrison and Moore. We’ll have report from the Fair Grounds and all around the Crescent City next week on the site.
