Marco Benevento will make his debut appearance at Carnegie Hall later this month. On June 20 he will appear with Reed Mathis and Andrew Barr opening for Jamie Cullum at the illustrious venue. Benevento has a number of trio gigs slated for the summer, with Marc Friedman, Barr’s band mate in the Slip, stepping in for Mathis on occasion. In addition to festival slots at Mountain Jam, High Sierra, the New Mexico Jazz Festival and Burlington’s Discover Jazz Festival, Benevento’s Trio also will headline Boston’s Museum Of Fine Arts (July 1). In addition, Benevento has signed on for solo gigs, with dates confirmed for The Stone in New York City (June 11), The Mystic Theater in Petaluma, CA (July 7) and Moe’s Alley in Santa Cruz (July 8). The later two shows are on bills with Barr and Friedman’s Surprise Me Mr. Davis, so one can anticipate some manner of collaboration will take place.
