Widespread Panic welcomed their old friend/comedian Carrot Top on Saturday night for his 21st appearance with the band, spicing up an already-rocking show at Las Vegas’ Park Theater.
Starting with crowd-favorite “Tall Boy,” the band worked their way through “Walkin’ (For Your Love)” and “Who Do You Belong To?” before slowing things down with “Trouble.” From there, Panic launched the crowd into a “Good People”> “Me and the Devil Blues” segment, and closed the first half with a massive “Holden Oversoul”> “Cream Puff War”> “Holden Oversoul” jam. Interestingly, this marked the first “Cream Puff War” since May 7, 2016, with a total show gap of 106.
Set two kicked off with the 1993 Everyday tune “Postcard,” which the band followed up with “Little Kin” and an animated “Big Wooly Mammoth”> “You Got Yours” jam. Widespread Panic continued with “Second Skin”> “Pilgrims” and a stand-alone “All Time Low,” before their big finale of “Bear’s Gone Fishin'” which bled into Funkadelic’s “Maggot Brain” and finally landed on “Chilly Water” featuring Carrot Top on additional percussion.
“Thanks @widespreadpanichq for letting me wreck the show,” the comedian later joked on Instagram.
Widespread Panic encored their Saturday night celebration with the Jojo Hermann-penned “Visiting Day” and finally their first version of Black Sabbath’s “Fairies Wear Boots” since 10/21/16.
