Greensky Bluegrass expanded its Summer Tour with seven new dates, slated to take the band throughout the northeast and southeast this July. The freshly revealed concert appearance will pick up after the band’s Waterfront Blues Festival slot in Portland, Ore., on July 7, with a newly tacked-on gig at Wonderland Forest in Lafayette, N.Y., on Thursday, July 18.

The next evening, July 19, the band will pick up an ensuing date at XL Live in Harrisburg, Pa., followed by a previously announced festival stand at 4848 and solo show at Beech Mountain Ski Resort in Beech Mountain, N.C., on July 21. Another set of new concerts arrives next Aug. 1 at Avondale Brewing Company Birmingham, Ala., and Aug. 2 at The Amp at LogStill Distillery in New Haven, Ky.

After taking part in the Grassfire Festival, the band will pick up their final leg of newly added summer concert dates, including Aug. 5 at Perinton Park Amphitheater in Fairport, N.Y., Aug. 7 at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater Wilmington, N.C. Finally, Aug. 9 at Coves Amphitheater in Union Hall, Va. News of the band’s new shows arrive on the heels of their freshly detailed The Iceland Sessions EP, featuring Holly Bowling, and due on Friday, May 10.

Greensky Bluegrass’ latest installment to their studio repertoire was crafted at the acclaimed Flóki Studios last summer, just before their electrifying performances at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík. Limiting details and building intrigue, songwriter, vocalist, and mandolin player Paul Hoffman offered via a press release, “We invited some of our favorite friends and musicians to play with us, including Holly Bowling, and we set out to make memories in the twilight sun with a bunch of fans who joined us from all over the world.”

He continued, “We embraced the disorienting inspiration and played late into the night as the sun never left us, all the while still developing lyrics and figuring out harmonies and arrangements. We swam in the cold water. We saw more sheep than people for days. We listened to the birds sing through the night while we charged through each song,” Hoffman continued, offering details on the ornate opportunity.

“A recording project that felt like a whirlwind at times turned into something calm and peaceful that felt more creative and raw than anything we’ve done before. Fully aware that we could continue to work on this later, we decided to commit to what we created in Iceland and have the recording be truly a moment in time,” Hoffman concluded.
