Port Chester, NY’s Garcia’s will host a free gathering to celebrate the life and music of Bob Weir this afternoon. The event will feature performances by members of the Stella Blues Band, the Grateful Dead tribute project that often performs at the venue. Doors will open at 2pm and music is slated to start at 3pm. As previously reported, Weir passed away yesterday due to underlying lung issues.
Garcia’s is located at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre, a venue Weir first performed at on March 20, 1970 with the Grateful Dead. Weir helped revive the space in 2012, participating in a HeadCount benefit that also featured Trey Anastasio, The Roots, Grace Potter and others. The show was the second performance after the venue reopened, following a performance by Bob Dylan.
