The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal has unveiled its final lineup additions for 2026. The 46th annual presentation of the esteemed music festival will host more than 350 concerts (more than two-thirds of which are free) from June 25 to July 4, spotlighting both time-honored acts and rising stars in jazz across a vast spectrum of styles. New additions to the bill are led by venerable saxophonist, composer and bandleader Kamasi Washington, returning to the festival four years after a landmark performance in 2022.
Among the other new additions to the Montréal Jazz Fest lineup are freak-funk bassist MonoNeon, who also took the storied stage last in 2022; rising retro rhythm-and-blues singer-songwriter KELS, as well as Ping Pong Go, Salin, Anaïs Cardot, and alt-pop and ambient cellist, composer and vocalist Lucinda Chua, who will open for St. Vincent at Place des Arts’ Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier. The Académie, the festival’s beloved educational program presenting high-profile artists in intimate instructional settings, will host workshops from greats like hip-hop producer and DJ the Alchemist and innovative jazz harpist Bandee Younger, as well as a premiere listening event for an archival collection of John Coltrane recordings from the early ‘60s titled The Tiberi Tapes.
“The programming for the 46th FIJM is a testament to the great jazz family tree, which has flourished for more than 100 years,” said Maurin Auxéméry, the festival’s director of programming. “Across its many branches, we celebrate the genre’s pivotal moments and living legacy, while introducing the artists shaping its future. Montréal remains a vital hub for jazz, and this is an event you won’t want to miss.”
The 2026 Montréal Jazz Fest is led by headliners like Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire, St. Vincent, Max Richter, Diana Krall, WILLOW, Smino and Patrick Watson. Other standouts on the bill include the rapidly rising Saguenay, Quebec-based avant-rock duo Angine de Poitrine, Bela Fleck’s trio with Edmar Castañeda and Antonio Sánchez, Taj Mahal and the Phantom Blues Band, legendary psych-funk ensemble Cymande, folksinger and activist Billy Bragg, an unprecedented duo of Christian McBride and Julian Lage, enduring alt-rock singer-songwriter Father John Misty, Montréal’s own indie-folk mainstays The Barr Brothers, Americana sister act Larkin Poe, Adrian Quesada’s Trio Asesino, and London-based Afrobeat outfit KOKOROKO. The festival will also present special centenary tributes to Coltrane, Miles Davis and Tony Bennett, as well as a 20th-anniversary celebration of Donuts and a salute to the late J Dilla hosted by DJ Jazzy Jeff.
