Eggy and Taper’s Choice are currently moving through the West Coast on their Peaks and Valleys Tour. While the two bands both offered their own standout sets during the first leg of the run earlier this month, throughout the last few days the two bands have shared the stage on a few occasions. On Wednesday night at Eugene, OR’s Wow Hall, Taper’s Choice bassist Alex Bleeker and Taper’s Choice keyboardist Zach Tenorio emerged in tandem to help Eggy through their first take on Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s classic “Helpless” since July 7, 2017. For the tune, Bleeker, who plays bass in Real Estate but guitar in his solo groups, supplied vocals and played acoustic guitar.
Then, on Thursday, the two bands shared the stage during Eggy’s encore at Bend, OR’s Tower Theatre for a join cover of Phil Collins’ “Sussudio.” For the festive jam, Bleeker and Taper’s Choice’s CJ Tywoniak appeared on guitar, Tenorio sat in on on keys, Taper’s Choice’s Chris Tomson held down the drums, and Eggy drummer and singer Alex Bailey moved to the front of the stage to provide lead vocals.
Finally, though there were no sit ins last night, Eggy nodded to their surroundings at Portland, OR’s Aladdin Theater by performing their take on The Shins’ “No Way Down.” Egyy performed The Shins tune once in 2022 and revived the number earlier this year. Also, during yetserday’s show, Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein debuted a new guitar, dubbed Li’l Tex.
Eggy and Taper’s Choice will perform in Seattle this evening.
