The Disco Biscuits have kept busy over the past couple of nights. The pioneering trance-fusion ensemble returned to the stage after Christmas break for a series of concerts that served as the prelude to their two-night New Year’s Eve run at two Boston area locations, Royale (Dec. 30) and Roadrunner (Dec. 31). The first in a three-night sequence of shows, the band took their talents to the College Street Music Hall in New Haven, Conn., on Saturday, Dec. 27, followed by a gig at District Music Hall in Norwalk, Conn., on Sunday Dec. 28, and most recently, last night’s Tractorbeam set at The Sinclair in Cambridge, Mass.

Saturday night’s arrival in New Haven found the band stepping into a nonstop sequence of material that took shape as: “Munchkin Invasion,” “Tourists (Rocket Ship),” “Orch Theme,” before returning to “Munchkin Invasion” for an unparalleled run of material played without pause. On the other side of the weekend set break, the band–Marc Brownstein, Aron Magner, Jon Gutwillig, and new backbeat, Marlon B. Lewis hightailed it into another nonstop series of songs, “Jigsaw Earth,” “Spacebirdmatingcall,” “Sound One,” and “Trap Door,” before an unfinished “Astronaut” and inverted “Crickets” met an earlier piece of the set during the band’s return to “Spacebirdmatingcall.” They turned in “Hope” as the only feature of the night’s encore in New Haven.

Remaining in the Northeast, Bisco brought their talents to District Music Hall in Norwalk, Conn., where they followed a similar formula to the previous night’s concert with more nonstop sequences that rang as high-caliber exchanges. The band turned in “House Dog Party Favor” and paused before continuing the expected trend of trailing tunes one after another, sans stops. To that effect, they positioned “Above The Waves,” “Postcard,” an inverted “Twisted in the Road,” and “Digital Buddha” into a series that emerged as the concert’s first frame.

Set two got underway with spurts of “Fire Will Exchange,” “Under Ur Spell,” and “Dino Baby” teased into “Caterpillar.” The latter bled into “The Deal,” “One Chance to Save The World,” “To Be Continued,” and “Above The Waves” to cap the section. They went on to perform an encore that consisted of “No Recollection.”

Breaking from their Disco Biscuit format, the band convened as Tractorbeam last night for a single set performance at The Sinclair in Cambridge, Mass. During the event, they amalgamated choice material, electrifying covers, while spilling into specialty moments, like the placement of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” into “Another Plan of Attack,” which also received a Tractorbeam overhaul, just for the occasion.

After last night’s set, The Disco Biscuits will resume their live schedule tonight, Dec. 30, at the Royale in Boston. Tickets remain on sale.
