On June 20 the Transparent Clinch Gallery will host an event centered around the life and legacy of Levon Helm. Author John Barry will be on hand to discuss his book Levon Helm: Rock, Roll & Ramble—The Inside Story of the Man, the Music and the Midnight Ramble. Barry, a former USA Today Network music writer, spent eight years with the late drummer from The Band, working on the project.
At the Transparent Clinch Gallery, Barry will be joined by musician Byron Issacs, who played in the Levon Helm Band for many years. The two will discuss Levon and the book, also outlining some connections between Woodstock, NY and Asbury Park, NJ, home to the Gallery. Then Issacs, who also performs in The Lumineers, will deliver a set with Peter Cole his collaborator in Lost Leaders, whose latest album is Hungry Ghosts.
The festivities will begins at 6 p.m. on June 20, with a suggested minimum donation of $10 at the door. Lost Leaders merchandise and signed copies of Rock, Roll & Ramble will be available for purchase.
