This summer, Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms will join forces for a massive co-headline tour. From July to September, the ‘90s icons and jam-adjacent alt-rock innovators will deliver a total of 30 performances at vaunted venues across the country, 28 of which will feature support from the newly revived Spin Doctors, whose first studio album in 12 years will arrive in April.
“Getting to play with dear old friends like Gin Blossoms and the Spin Doctors is one of the great benefits of a touring career that spans almost four decades now,” Blues Traveler frontman John Popper shares in a release. “These are exceptional players and performers, and they push us to play even harder. Everybody digs in and makes each other better. We are looking forward to a great year of music!”
The summer tour will commence on July 4, when Blues Traveler will return to Morrison, Colo. for their 29th annual Independence Day celebration at Red Rocks Amphitheater. The blues-rock torchbearers will welcome their peer bands as support, then set out as co-headliners for a show at La Vista, Neb.’s The Astro Amphitheater on July 6. The bands will plot three stops through the Midwest from July 7-12, then present five East Coast performances–highlighted by a July 19 staging at Atlantic City, N.J.’s Ocean Casino Resort–from July 13-21.
Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors will return to the Midwest with a July 26 show at Highland Park, Ill.’s Ravinia Festival, then make three further stops in the region before shooting down to El Reno, Okla.’s Lucky Star Amphitheater on August 9. On Aug. 14, the bands will roll into Sin City for a set at Las Vegas’ Red Rock Casino, then ride that lucky streak off to three shows in California from Aug. 15-19. Following another trio in Washington from Aug. 21-23 and an Aug. 25 Iowa show, the bands will conclude their run with an eight-show sprint across the South culminating in performances at Louisville, Ky.’s Bourbon & Beyond Festival on Sept. 14.
“We can’t wait to rock this summer with our old friends Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors,” Blues Traveler’ Chan Kinchla offers. “It’s gonna be a great run, lots of hits, lots of jammin’ and I’m sure plenty of cross pollinating. We are looking forward to seeing everyone all around the country this summer!”
Robin Wilson of Gin Blossoms echoes, “We have a long and colorful history with Spin Doctors, and have crossed paths with Blues Traveler many times. A lot of people have great memories with these three bands. It will be a really fun summer.”
Spin Doctors’ guitarist Eric Schenkman concurs: “We are absolutely stoked to hit the road this summer with our old pals and 90’s cohorts Gin Blossoms and Blues Traveler. It’s gonna be epic.”
