Jam supergroup Electron has announced a pair of live performances. The ensemble, comprised of the Disco Biscuits’ Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner, Lotus’ Mike Greenfield and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s Tom Hamilton, will resume their live performances by appearing on the Ardmore Music Hall Stage in Ardmore, Pa., on April 18 and 19, 2025.
The impending shows represent rare gigs for the Philadelphia-based members, who came together nearly 25 years ago during the Disco Biscuits’ early aughts hiatus as a part of Brownstein’s Chemical Warfare Brigade opera at Philly’s Trocadero Theater in 2000.
“The first Electron lineup was myself, Joe Russo on drums, Tommy Hamilton on guitar, DJ Stitch, I believe was in Electron on turntables. But maybe not, that might have just been the Maui Project with DJ Stitch. Then my friend Pauly was playing the percussion at that time,” recalled Brownstein in a 2013 Jambands interview.
Commenting on Greenfield’s placement, Brownstein also told Jambands.com, “He’s been around since the beginning too so he’s seen all the different generations of Electron, and he’s obviously familiar. When I say to him, ‘Here’s the 20 songs,’ it’s not like he needs to go listen to the songs to figure out what they are. He already knows them.”
In the past five years, Electron has performed occasionally, including [near] annual reunions: a concert webcast in 2021, 2022’s Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia stand, and most recently, their 2023 return to the Ardmore Music Hall.
