Greensky Bluegrass have officially shared the details for its 2024 Halloween performance, resurrecting its annual tradition once again. In a post to its social channels, the band set its spooky return for October 31 at The Refinery in Charleston, S.C.; following a year without a celebration of the holiday in 2023, fans can expect a resurgence in full festive force this fall.

Greensky Bluegrass’ last Halloween outing in 2022 brought the band to the time-honored stage of San Francisco’s The Warfield, where they delivered a set to appropriately honor the setting and its history. Clad in matching white suits in the style of the Grateful Dead’s Go to Heaven cover shoot, the band issued long dormant covers of classics from the foundational jam band, treating “Feel Like a Stranger,” “Let It Grow,” “They Love Each Other,” “St. Stephen,” “U.S. Blues” and more. To support the special themed performance, the band enlisted the support of regular collaborator and Phil Lesh & Friends keyboardist Holly Bowling.

Bowling and Greensky reconnected earlier in July, when the artists united for a headline performance at the 2024 staging of Quincy, Calif.’s High Sierra Music Festival. Together, in the final act of a jam-packed set, the band reprised its Dead homage outfit with covers of “Cryptical Envelopment,” and “The Other One,” merged in a medley bookended by two approaches to Bob Weir’s “Cassidy.” None of these entries overlapped with those featured in the 2022 Halloween set, and each had not been covered since 2017, 2019 and 2021 respectively.

In advance of its Halloween event, the road warriors will maintain their typical packed calendar of live performances. The band will make 10 appearances through the end of the summer and 8 more before Halloween, including festival sets at Garrettsville, Ohio’s Grassfire Festival, Richmond, Va.’s Jam Packed Craft Beer & Music Festival, Camden, N.J.’s XPoNential Music Festival and Live Oak, Fla.’s Hulaween, as well as a two-night headline engagement at Morrison, Colo.’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
