MGMT will host a live listening party for the impending album Loss of Life, due in full on February 23, 2024. The event is scheduled for the night before the official LP streaming release at the historic NeueHouse Hollywood on Thursday, February 22, 2024. The exclusive occasion will also be aired live on the streaming platform Veeps.
Following the band’s live delivery of their sixth studio album, members Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser will discuss the collections with comedian and co-director of MGMT’s “Bubblegum Dog” music video, Tom Scharpling, dipping into the 90’s alt-rock approach taken by the duo.
According to the press release, “This live listening party taking place just hours before the album drops not only offers fans the chance to finally dive into the new sounds and narratives crafted by MGMT—it brings a unique opportunity to hear live commentary and insights from the duo of VanWyngarden and Goldwasser.”
Loss Of Life comprises 10 tracks and was crafted with producer Patrick Wimberly (Beyoncé and Lil Yachty) and MGMT’s long-time creative partner, Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips and Spoon). Fridmann’s signature touch can be heard in the album’s mixing, continuing a tradition that dates back to the group’s previous full-length releases.
Notably, Loss Of Life features a collaboration with Christine and the Queens on the track “Dancing in Babylon,” marking the first-ever feature on an MGMT album. Additional production was contributed by Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never), Brian Burton (Danger Mouse), and James Richardson.
Loss of Life: Exclusive Album Listening Event with MGMT will be free for Veeps All Access subscribers, or fans can purchase an individual show ticket for $5.99 on veeps.com, with all proceeds going to The Loveland Foundation.
