Real Estate, the indie rock ensemble featuring Martin Courtney, Alex Bleeker, Matt Kallman, Julian Lynch, and Sammi Niss, announced the February 23, 2024, release of their sixth full-length album, Daniel, via Domino Recording Co. The impending set has been previewed with the initial single, “Water Underground,” and its official The Adventures of Pete & Pete-themed music video. Watch below.

Daniel was born from a nine-day spree at RCA Studio A in Nashville, Tenn., where the ensemble recorded their material with GRAMMY-winning producer Daniel Tashian, known for his work with Kacey Musgraves. Comprised of 11 new songs, the tracking list has been teased with the release of “Water Underground,” in tandem with a music video inspired by the ‘90s Nickelodeon sitcom The Adventures of Pete & Pete

The music video was directed by Edmond Hawkins and another New Jersey native/ Pete & Pete star, Danny Tamberelli, who also appears in the visual equalizer, along with former cast-mate Michael C. Maronna. The clip, filmed in the band’s native New Jersey, was conceptualized and produced by Tamberelli and Maronna, with creators Chris Viscardi and Will McRobb.

“This song is about writing songs,” stated frontman and lyricist Martin Courtney. “I think ‘Water Underground’ is like the unconscious, the mysterious part of your brain where creativity comes from. The constant flow of music in the back of your head. You get an idea while driving or walking the dog or something and you want to hold on to it.”

“New Jersey roots are hard to break,” added Tamberell. “Julian, Alex and Martin all grew up one town away from me and were actually friends with the younger siblings of my friends from Ridgewood. They told me they even saw me perform at the local bandshell with some of those older siblings while I was in high school. The video brings it full circle and adding my dear old friends from the show into the fold really tied it all together.”

In conjunction with today’s announcement, the band also shared a list of tour dates, which will take them on the road in support of the impending set of music, beginning on March 1, 2024, at the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver, B.C., inevitably coming to a close on May 26 at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta.
