Tomorrow, Friday Sept. 8, a group of musicians will be going live on YouTube to raise money for the Hawaiian Community Foundation and MusiCares. The event, called #MauiStrong, will feature artists such as LL Cool J, Mick Fleetwood and others to assist the residents of Maui as they try to rebuild after devastating wildfires engulfed parts of the island in August.

The event will be hosted by KCRW’s Elvis Mitchell along with Jimmy Jam and will feature more than just music. Included are a total of eight segments and will blend together art, music and storytelling from artists on and off the island. The livestream will boast acts of heroism as well as local histories from residents of the Hawaiian island.

The full list of platers set to perform include already mentioned artists Cool J and Fleetwood, as well as Benny Uyetake, Fred Armisen, Gretchen Rhodes, Kai Lenny, Lukas Nelson, Matthew Pinfield, Nathaniel Rateliff, Ryan Bingham, Sarah McLachlan, Skunk Baxter, Slim Jim Phantom, Stewart Copeland, Uncle George Kahumoku Jr. and Ziggy Marley.

Moreover, Stewart Copeland of the Police will lead a “Drums for Maui” segment with Hawaiian artists. Lei‘Ohu Ryder will bestow a “Hawaiian Blessing” and there will also be cultural presentations including hula and mele. The event will be raising funds for The Maui Strong Fund, a fund to support the immediate and long term needs of Maui residents, as well as MusiCares, which looks to support musicians that need preventive, emergency, and recovery programs.

Tune in here tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET to watch and support the #MauiStrong cause.
