Last month, Robert Finley announced the Oct. 27 release of his fourth studio album, Black Bayou, via Easy Eye Records. The impending set finds the musician working alongside The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, who produced and assisted on the collection. As a preview, Finley delivered the second single off the LP and music video for “Sneakin’ Around.”

The tune presents Finley’s signature vocals, musing stories of deception and deceit. Instrumentally, the laid-back groove is paired with booming R&B-infused horns and ripping guitar chords that dominate the song’s midsection before the musician belts lines about an unfaithful partner.

In a press release, Finley offered, “Whatever is in the dark is gonna come to the light, so don’t play around.” The playfulness of this commentary is captured in the music video, directed by Andy M. Hawkes, who presents scenes of Finley grooving with a microphone and showing off his undeniable swagger as he moves through various locations.

Black Bayou provides listeners with a sonic portrait of the Finley’s home state, Louisiana, the region which formed the man behind the lyrics. A mix of gospel, blues, rock-and-roll, and more permeates the 11-song collection to depict the artist’s experience, steeped in a geographic interplay. “It’s amazing to realize how much of an impact Louisiana has had on the world’s music,” offered Auerbach via press release.

“And Robert embodies all of that. He can play a blues song. He can play early rock and roll. He can play gospel. He can do anything, and a lot of that has to do with where he’s from,” the producer continued. The new collection marks the fourth time Auerbach and Finley have collaborated.
