Today, Lukas Nelson + POTR released a new single titled “Alcohallelujah,” which embraces the allure of the bottle and is taken from their highly anticipated seventh album, Sticks and Stones – set to release July 14 via 6ACE Records/Thirty Tigers.

Infused with Nelson’s inherited wit from his father, the song explores a life of intoxication from within the hallowed halls of a decrepit country chapel. From there, Nelson and his band seek forgiveness by leading a congregation with a plea of “Alcohallelujah.”

Following the emotional weight of their 2021 album, A Few Stars Apart, Nelson + POTR made a conscious decision to return to their musical roots and craft an album that is equally enjoyable to listen to as it is to perform. The lead single, “More Than Friends,” featuring Lainey Wilson, introduced the vibrant atmosphere of the upcoming 12-track album, offering a stark contrast to the introspective reflection on the COVID-induced distance of A Few Stars Apart.

Nelson shared his perspective on the new record, stating, “This album is about celebrating human connection, joy, and excitement. We’ve transitioned from quiet and introspective on A Few Stars Apart to something big and fun that truly showcases the band’s talent and performance. Sticks and Stones offers a complete setlist experience, from energetic dance tracks to heartfelt, poignant songs.”

Lukas Nelson + POTR will embark on a tour of Ireland and the U.K. in June, followed by a series of festival appearances and shows alongside Tedeschi Trucks Band. For tickets and a comprehensive list of tour dates, visit Nelson’s official website here.
