On Sunday, May 7, Dumpstaphunk will mark its 20th anniversary at the famed Tipitina’s venue in The Big Easy. The upcoming concert coincides with the conclusion of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival activities and will feature an eclectic mix of seasoned drummers and an appearance by DJ Soul Sister.

The impending bill will see Dumpstaphunk joined by a trio of guest rhythm masters, which includes past collaborators and bandmates, Raymond Weber, Nikki Glaspie and Alvin Ford Jr., who will sit in throughout the night and add a backbeat to tracks from across the group’s two-decade-long history.

The newly announced gig will be the final appearance for Dumpstaphunk during the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. It will arrive after Ivan and Ian Neville perform with The Take Me To The River All-Stars at the Joy Theater on April 29, and a follow-up on the main stage for the entire crew on April 30.

Of note, in 2003, the group performed their initial concert on a whim at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The first-time lineup featured Ivan and Ian Neville, in addition to Nick Daniels, Tony Hall and Weber.
