California-based collective, The Latin Dead have shared its spin on a Grateful Dead fan favorite. The ensemble, which is known for infusing their covers of the fabled San Francisco jamband with Latin jazz and Afro-Latino traditions, have delivered their take on the 1978 title track, “Shakedown Street,” which features guitarist John Kadlecik. Watch now.

The cover of “Shakedown Street” is a preview of the band’s impending Feb. 14 drop, Eyes of the World, an 11-track assemblage of reimagined Grateful Dead staples. Included on the forthcoming album are takes on “Touch of Grey,” “Crazy Fingers,” “One More Saturday Night” and more.

Oscar Hernández, Brenden Tacon and Dub Sonata produced the collection of music. Eyes of the World was recorded during a stretch of three days in March 2022 at United Recording Studios in Los Angeles and captured the 10-piece–Hernández, Kadlecik, Tacon, Andy Vargas, Rene Camacho, Andy Sanesi, Peter Nater, Francisco Torres, Katisse Buckingham and Cha-Cha Charlie Cháve reinterpret the iconic instrumentation with one-of-a-kind brassy finish.
