Doom Flamingo’s Kanika Moore has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the financial burden stemming from a car accident that occurred at the end of August and left her 20-year-old daughter, Naomi, in need of around-the-clock care.

In a press release shared by the beloved Charleston, S.C. musician, Moore shared, “On August 30th, my beautiful 20-year-old daughter Naomi Moore was in a car wreck that totaled her vehicle. While she wasn’t visibly injured at the time, she was disoriented and confused. The condition worsened, and she was in a Roper hospital emergency room.”

She continued, “In the week following the accident, Naomi’s blood pressure was critically high, and she had other complications, including a dangerously high fever. The nurses ran diagnostics and moved frantically to stabilize her. She was admitted to the Roper Medical Center cardiac care floor, and they ran multiple tests: Cat, MRI, Spinal Tap, angiography, etc. The medical staff quickly realized that she needed to be with MUSC’s Neurology department.”

Moore added, “Naomi can walk and talk again, but she has a cognitive and motor deficit. Her long-term memory is ok, but her short-term memory is not. She will forget things you’ve said to her in minutes. She can’t control a phone or follow simple tasks alone. They released her from the hospital this week, and she is slowly getting better, but it will be a long road. Needless to say, Naomi needs someone to attend to her 24 hours per day. Right now, that is me…and my small but mighty team.”
