Amidst a smoke-induced haze caused by early-September wildfires in Central Oregon, Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros descended upon Sisters, Ore., approximately 150 miles outside the state’s Rose City. The show included two sets staked with many Grateful Dead classics and numbers from the artist’s solo repertoire, including a take on “The Winners,” played for the first time since March 6, 2020. 

The show got underway just before 5 p.m. local time, with “The Music Never Stopped” into “Easy Answers,” and ultimately, a return to the set opener to conclude the opening jam. A take on Bob Dylan’s “Masterpiece” landed right before “El Paso,” then Weir slowed things down with “She Knows What I’m Thinking,” which debuted earlier this year at Radio City Music Hall during the artist’s 50th-anniversary celebration of his debut solo album, Ace. 

The night continued with “Friend of the Devil” before a classic pairing of “Lost Sailor” and “Saint of Circumstance” ended the first set of music. Then, Weir and company dusted off “The Winners” for the first time since March 6, 2020, to kick off the second frame. Janis Joplin’s “Me & Bobby McGee” came next and bled into “Fever,” “Dark Star” and “The Other One.” The segued takes continued with “Standing on the Moon” before a fitting end to the set with “One More Saturday Night.” 

For their encore, the band landed on a sweet rendition of “Ripple” to cap their benefit concert for Oregon Adaptive Sports at Hoodoo Ski Area in Sisters, Ore. After last night’s display, Weir will take a few more weeks off the road before returning on Sept. 30 for a fall tour kick-off at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, Conn.
