WWOZ 90.7FM’s WWOZ Piano Night, a flagship fundraiser and festival season tradition among New Orleans music lovers, has announced it will livestream its event for the very first time on May 2, 2022.

The performance, which will take place at the House of Blues New Orleans, is set to share five hours of eclectic piano from 18 musicians. WWOZ has partnered with the House of Blues and Veeps livestreaming service to share their celebration of New Orleans piano traditions and help raise funds to benefit WWOZ 90.7FM.

“After two years of Piano Night being a pre-recorded virtual event, we wanted really go big this year by bringing eighteen pianists to the Piano Night stage,” said WWOZ GM Beth Arroyo Utterback. “With so much talent being packed into one evening, the music will be nonstop! As one musicians gets up, the next will slide right onto the bench to keep the music flowing all night long.”

Artists performing during the event include Marcia Ball, Joe Krown, Oscar Rossignoli, Lilli Lewis, Jesse McBride, Mari Wantanabe, Kyle Roussel, Josh Paxton, Larry Sieberth, Dr. Courtney Bryan, John “Papa” Gros, Eden Brent, Yoshitaka Tsuji (Z2), Matt Lemmler, Tom McDermott, Tom Worrell, David Boeddinghaus, and Michael O’Hara. Styles over the evening will range from trad jazz to boogie-woogie, modern jazz to R&B and much more in between.

“Our goal this year was to get a nice representation of local New Orleans piano players active across the city today,” says Piano Night artistic producer and pianist Joe Krown. “We wanted to get as many of them on the stage as possible. We couldn’t fit everyone, but we got as many as we could!”
